Since it was revealed that the biggest demographic playing Farmville is women in their 40s, gaming companies have realised that they are missing a trick if they don’t create games which have themes that interest women. DateDeadline is a brand new fashion game that allows women to pick the outfit that will be perfect for the date of their choice.
The game was created by http://www.toyboywarehouse.com which is now the top UK dating community for gorgeous women and younger men. Founder Julia Macmillan believes that games are an essential way forward to engage and entertain a female audience. Up until recently console games were predominantly a male domain, but since the advent of social gaming that is all changing. Stats show that female social and casual gamers in the UK are overtaking men representing 58% of the market according to PopCap Social Gaming Research.
“The few games that specifically target women that are available at the moment” says Macmillan “have graphics that would appeal more to my 9 year-old niece. We’ve tried to create a more sophisticated game with a look that will appeal to women, not children.” This is the first version of DateDeadline in which the dates (ranging from Pop Boy to Posh Boy) and all the clothes are graphic illustrations. “We could, in the next version of the game, use real guys from ToyBoyWarehouse, as they love competition and enjoy the challenge of becoming the most popular date.”
The game is due to launch on Facebook at the on July 7th on Facebook but you can get a sneak preview here: http://www.toyboywarehouse.com/DateDeadline.
