Often considered as highly controversial, Gareth Pugh has decided to break free from his avant darge mould. The English designer – who is known for his trademark inflatable clothing – is set to release his own beauty/makeup collection with MAC, which is supposed to be available online and in stores from this November.Pugh has previously joined forces with the high acclaimed makeup brand, but has now decided to make his mark on the industry by providing a permanent collection:

“If you as a fashion designer, you do shows but you don’t sell, it kind of becomes a bit of a vanity project,” he recently said. “You know that’s kind of how I started and that’s how I got going but kind of a more mature point of view it needs to obviously translate into things that sell and that’s a new challenge for me. The two need each other, business and creativity. It’s a weird mix but you need to have that balance, I think, now. Or I need to have that balance now, so I’ve made my peace with that.” – Gareth Pugh

Following suit with the designers catwalk designs, the new makeup line is expected to take inspiration from his usual gothic colour pattern, with a few surprises in the works. The collection will be featured in Pugh’s upcoming SS12 catwalk show, so keep your eyes peeled!
