Beautiful makeup starts with beautiful skin. The most effective way to get great skin is to follow the simple rules of drinking enough water, going to bed at a reasonable time and eating healthily. Once you’ve gotten into the routine, make sure you find a suitable cleanser, toner and moisturizer that will suit your skin type, and use daily. If you suffer from dry skin try efoliating a few times a week (or as required) to get rid of dead skin cells – this will produce a more even finish, and will mean less make up is actually needed!

Start by applying a light primer to set an even base for the foundation. Depending on your skin type, either opt for a light liquid foundation (such as Make up forever HD Invisible Cover) or a light powder if you tend to have drier skin. Once you’ve applied the foundation, you’ll need a liquid liner and a steady hand. First start by making the point in the top inner corner of the eye then extend it to the upper line and let it extend at about a 15 degree angle at the outer corner of the eye. You may need to stretch the eye out a bit to get a nice flat plane to work with. Then join the liner at the bottom inner corner of the eye and extend the line across the bottom lash line. Try to stay away from using a kohl eyeliner, especially if you intend on wearing this look on a night out, because kohl pencils often have a tendancy to run, and we don’t want to ruin all of your hard work!

Once you’re happy with your cat eye look, apply some thick false eyelashes for the evening, or simply give your lashes a few licks of volume mascara – Maybelline falsies mascara gives a great false effect on the lashes. Apply a rosy blush on the apples of your cheeks and pair it with a bold colour of your choice.
