How to create a smokey eye

The smokey eye look is one of the most used across both the runway and fashion editorials, creating a sexy yet sophisticated look that can be done in just a few minutes. Here’s a step by step guide on how to do the smokey eye yourself.

The key to keeping the eyeshadow set on your eyelids is to make sure that the areas around your eye are kept oil-free. To do this, simply apply a primer/eyeshadow base across the lids and leave it to dry.

Once you have prepped the rest of your face, choose an eyeliner in a complementing shade (black tends to work best for most complexions) and apply it to the upper lash line – making the line slightly thicker towards the centre of the eye.

A way to add extra sex appeal to the smokey eye look is to add a slight smudge effect on the bottom lash line, which can be achieved by using an eyeliner pencil (preferably kohl) or a thin line of eyeshadow. To smudge the makeup, slightly wet a cotton bud and run it along your lash lines. If you manage to make a mess, use a corrector pen to get rid of any unwanted stains.

Once you’ve completed the fundamental part of the smokey eye you’ll want to apply a few coats of mascara to make sure the lashes are thick and dark. Alternatively, you could apply a set of false lashes, as excessive coats of mascara can make lashes brittle. Once you’ve done that, you’re set to go! But if you want to fully complete the look, apply a natural nude lipstick or gloss to draw attention to the eyes.

I enjoy reading your articles but perhaps this time you perhaps have been too hasty when writing because your writing it feels rushed.
